i have had probelms with 'white noise' in my ears off and on since i was a kid. i started turning a fan on at night which makes the sound less evident. im just getting over a major major bout with the flu and the noise is back. very loud. its like a constant rushing sound behind muffled hearing. im just beiung patient and seeking distraction like the internet. i will keep using the fan at night to get sleep good luck

by the way if tis any consolation i will use the states for an example - up to 50 million..yes 50 million people deal with some form of tinitus. life goes on and treatments if not complete cures are getting better all the time

hey Keith, fellow tinnitus sufferer here. One thing that dramatically helped me was changing toothpastes. Check your toothpaste to see if it contains "potassium nitrate". This is typically put in sensitive toothpastes. If your toothpaste does contain it, switch brands to a toothpaste that does not contain it.

Hi there,

My name is Sam im 18. Also from London, I have just found out I have tinnitus too.

I also have an ENT refferal, what I have found out which does help is try and avoid LOUD noise like shopping centers (where i work) and it will be less bothersome at night.

Also, I have been using mouth wash recently and it has seemed to make it less noticeable also.

Good luck buddie, hang in there.

Mouth wash? Never heard of that one. Tuna is good also. Alcohol and smoking can worsen it. How long have you had it? I've had it for 2 years, and you do get used to it after a while
